Colorado has a series of educational standards known as the Colorado Academic Standards that outline academic objectives for students in every grade across 10 content areas. The rigorous standards set expectations so Colorado students are prepared to succeed in college or careers upon high school graduation.
To measure students’ mastery of the state’s academic standards, Colorado administers a set of common assessments known as the Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) and PSAT/SAT. CMAS and PSAT/SAT are the only common measuring tools for Colorado students. Measuring real-world skills like problem-solving and critical thinking, the tests are aligned to classroom work so teachers do not have to “teach to the test.” Instruction based on the standards is the best preparation.

CMAS Testing Information for Parents April 2025
As we approach the testing season, we want to take a moment to emphasize the importance of the Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) test for your child's academic growth and overall educational experience. CMAS testing is also very important to our school community.
Why is CMAS important to Mrachek?
Colorado's education system relies on CMAS results and participation rates to determine school ratings. These ratings are based on average scores and the growth students demonstrate on CMAS from year to year. CMAS results are used to identify academic gaps or accelerate learning for students.
What is the testing schedule for CMAS?
The Mrachek 2025 CMAS schedule is provided below for your reference. The testing schedule mimics high school final exam scheduling with testing blocks.
Why is it good practice for students to take standardized tests?
Standardized test-taking is a life skill that our students need to develop. Testing is required in most trades, armed forces careers, and college admissions.
How will Mrachek support my child during CMAS?
Mrachek Middle School will support your child during CMAS by providing snacks before testing to ensure students are ready to do their best, and through recognition of students' effort and hard work through daily raffles, spirit days, and a whole school celebration at the end of the testing window.
How can I help support CMAS at Mrachek?
You can help support CMAS at Mrachek by ensuring your child arrives at school on time on the days of testing, encouraging your child to do their best to "show what they know!", and writing words of encouragement for students for us to post throughout the school (more information to come).
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the CMAS test, please don't hesitate to contact us. We appreciate your ongoing partnership in your child's education and look forward to a successful testing season. hank you for your cooperation and partnership.
Sincerely,
Mrachek Middle School
