Rachel Hughes
Hello! My name is Rachel Hughes, and I am the 7th grade Mild/Moderate teacher at Mrachek Middle School. I also serve as the ESS staffing/department chair. I have been working in education since 2013, serving the Mrachek community for the majority of that time.
I started my career at Mrachek as a general education math teacher before moving into special education where I’ve taught Autism, math and reading intervention classes, as well as co-taught math and literacy classes.
I earned my Bachelors degree in Elementary Education from York College of PA and my Masters degree in Teaching and Learning from CSU Global. I then pursued an additional endorsement in special education as I am passionate about helping students grow academically, build confidence, develop independence, and advocate for their needs.
When I am not at school, I enjoy doing crafts and spending time with my husband and 2 daughters.
My goal this year and every year is to create a classroom environment where every student feels safe, valued, supported, and challenged to reach their full potential.
I am excited to partner with students and families to make this a successful and rewarding school year!
