THE COUNSELING CONNECTION
Milly Payne and Marie Maccioli, Counselors
Positive Behavior Supports (PBS):
Mrachek is one of many schools in the APS district which follows the PBS model as a way to teach and reward students for demonstrating appropriate behaviors. To learn more about this district initiative visit the PBS website at http://www.cde.state.co.us/pbs/.
As most Mrachek families are aware, Mrachek has adopted the acronym VALOR to represent the behaviors that we expect from our students. VALOR stands for the following:
Values- I value my education.
Achievement- I give my best effort.
Leadership- I help others.
Ownership- I take responsibility for my own actions.
Respect- I respect myself, others, and take pride in my school.
Approximately 4500 VALOR tickets were presented to students during the first 3 Quarters to acknowledge their positive and appropriate behavior! Every morning VALOR tickets are drawn and those students are recognized in the morning announcements. Students also enjoy weekly lunch time prize drawings. Congratulations to every student for choosing to show VALOR!
Please continue to encourage your student to consistently demonstrate VALOR at Mrachek. Our 2nd semester VALOR assemblies will also be a time to celebrate students’ VALOR efforts with games and prizes. These assemblies are scheduled for May 12th, 13th and 14th; 6th, 7th and 8th grade respectively.
